It's been a long, long day.

Last night Luke and I decided to go to Augie's Late Night Ice Skating event.

It was a bad idea.

Well, it was a good idea... until it was a bad one. Toward the end of the night, we were playing broom ball when Luke decided to skate backwards with a little more confidence than he should have.

He fell. All of his body weight came crashing down onto his elbow. An elbow is not made to hold 160 pounds.

We--me wearing my "Meredith Grey is my Spirit Animal" sweatshirt and Luke unable to unbuckle himself when we got home--decided we should probably take him to the ER.

So we did. We got there at about 12:30 a.m.. Things went pretty smoothly at first. We got him checked in and into a room around 1, x-rays were done by 1:30. Then 2:30 came. Very slowly and without getting any answers. A nurse came saying the doctor was suturing up a face-lac.

Then 3:30 came and finally some news: he had literally fractured the tip of his elbow off. Around 4 he got his fiberglass cast on and we got home around 5. Between the adrenaline keeping me awake and the sun rising not long after, let's just say it was a long night. And it's been a long day. And the coming days are going to continue to be long days between the follow up Ortho consults and possible surgery.

But man is my man a trooper.
